A Night With…A Guy Called Gerald – This Saturday

Upstanding gentleman of the community Mr Terry Farley talks to A Guy Called Gerald about his True School Manifesto, the politics of dancing, from the speaker to the sneaker, free knob twiddling to the stars, keeping it real and pizza.

Gerald plays an 8 hour set at A Night With…on Saturday 9th February at Basing House.

In 2012 A Night With… became a firm fixture in everyones calendar. With Sebo K, X-Press 2, M.A.N.D.Y, Soul Clap, Seth Troxler, the legendary Greg Wilson, world renowned Sasha and to close the year the UK’s leading #1 Jamie Jones will all have taken up the mantle of playing for a full 8 hours compleltey un-supported.

With Trevor Jackons delivering a stunning 8 hours of music, we now look forward A Guy Called Gerald.

Something of a hidden gem, Gerald is considered the gateway between Chicago house / Detroit Techno and the UK dance music explosion in the late 80s. He formed 808 State with a drum machine, a 303, 2 Roland SH101s and 2 other humans. His collaborations stem from Frankie Knuckles, Goldie, Finley Quaye and Derrick May through to Herbie Hancock, has remixed for David Bowie, Lamb, Stone Roses, and The Orb. When the history of postmodern dance music is written he is ubiquitous: his visions, his stylistic versatility and open mindedness had a huge influence on the development of global dance culture. Very early on, he experimented with acid house and helped pioneer the style that was later called jungle and drum´n´bass. Fiercely independent we´re really looking forward to hearing what his 8 hour mandate has in store.
