During the Rio Music Conference and world famous Rio Carnival, it only makes sense that one of Brazil’s leading clubs steps up to host their own event. And so it is on February 10th, with Minus boss and ENTER founder Richie Hawtin stepping up to headline a special party alongside label cohort MATADOR live, Mauricio Lopes and the King of Swingers.
Brazil’s popular electronic dance music festival held in Rio de Janeiro will bring together myriad musical worlds with all the colour and character you’d expect of such an event in Latin America. Making sure those of a minimal techno persuasion get their fill is the D Edge crew at their Rio base when Richie Hawtin comes to town. Known for pioneering minimal techno, his own ENTER parties in Ibiza and acting as a voice for the credible scene as EDM explodes all over the world, Hawtin is a true legend.
Part of the new school at his Minus label is live specialist Matador, who weaves together his sounds on the fly at clubs around the world and tonight will likely do the same. With a killer discography of stripped back but funky main room techno cuts, he is a welcome addition to the line up. Mauricio Lopes and King of Swingers also play.
Across the rest of January the club continues in its tradition of offering a wide array of artists including Maceo Plex and Tale of Us (12th), Jozif (25th) Gavin Herlihy (26th) and in February Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann (02/02) Innervisions’ deepest house dudes Ame, Henrik Schwarz and Dixon (7th) and Guti Live in March on the third.
