“They’re a great party band, real festival favourites”
The Evening Standard
Molotov Jukebox do ‘exactly what they say on the tin’, a whirlwind of trumpets, accordions, corsets and punch-packing vocals, this six-piece, genre dodging troupe are fast becoming an explosive force to be reckoned with! Back with their second EP release ‘Bang’, out on 21st May, the band will be performing in their Tasmanian devil style at the quirky and versatile space of Islington Metal Works on Thursday 24th May in a night of dance inducing musical madness to launch the new EP like a rocket on a mission to Mars!
Molotov Jukebox are a relentlessly fiery London-based ensemble who over the past few years have spread their unique vibe and spirit far and wide, playing everywhere from top UK festivals to touring around Brazil and Europe! Fronted by the multi-talented actress, fashion icon and musician Natalia Tena, (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones / Vocals and Accordion) her stunningly flamboyant style mixed with the brazen trumpet, gypsy-esque violin and pounding rhythm section, make for an exuberantly lethal concoction of 100% energy and mayhem! Taking influence from gypsy to swing, through to Latin soul and calypso, to disco and dubstep, their indefinable unique style has over the years been affectionately coined as ‘GypStep’ and is thoroughly explored in their new EP ‘Bang’.
The eagerly awaited follow up to internationally celebrated 2011 ‘Double Dare’ EP, ‘Bang’ was recorded and mixed at London’s legendary RAK studios and produced by Jonathan Quarmby (David Bowie, Ziggy Marley, Finley Quaye), in partnership with AWAL. ‘Bang’ is set for a May 21st release and will be the perfect soundtrack to the Summer adventures, especially with the incredibly catchy lead track “Tick Tock” The EP will be on pre-release from early May via the bands website: www.molotov-jukebox.co.uk
Joining Molotov at this knock out EP Launch party will be the ambitious trio More Like Trees. Recently formed in 2011 and already with a full festival season and plethora of collaborations and support shows under their belts, More Like Trees are on the fast track to success! Described as an acoustic, flamenco and drum & bass combination that draw their various musical influences into a young, vibrant and rhythmic style of music, these guys expertly integrate rich vocals to keep the audience intently listening when they’re not dancing their socks off! Also on the bill for this momentous pre festival season party will be support from turntable masters DJs Trufix and Cous Cous.
Advanced tickets for the EP launch on 24th May are available for £6 via Ticket Web: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=505859&interface=
