A Night With… Seth Troxler

By
September marks the autumn run of the A Night With series, which will take us through to the end of the year. With M.A.N.D.Y, X-Press 2 and Soul Clap all running the eight hour musical gauntlet so far in 2012, the darker nights also bring with them the heavyweights with Greg Wilson, Sasha and Jamie Jones all left to play. Setting the standard on the 15th September, step forward Seth Troxler for his very own eight hour A Night With….

I´m a huge enthusiast of music and context. A Night With enables me to curate the music in the beautiful settings of Loft Studios for one night only. I´ll be spreading my wings a lot over the course of the evening so if you like me and my music, this will be truly indulgent evening. A Night… not to be missed.  Seth Troxler

Seth Troxler needs little introduction. A DJ, collaborator, producer and founding father of the Visionquest imprint, Seth Troxler’s frisky gravitas and panache is well documented. A refreshingly outspoken and mirthful personality in a sphere of self-conscious sincerity, Seth has extended a mischievous air to his productions over the years. Originating from the suitably named Kalamazoo in Detroit, he nurtured a taste for house music from an almost impossibly early age and it was only a matter of time before success beckoned. An intrepid determination took him to Berlin with friend and fellow Visionquest founder, Ryan Crosson, eventually leading to the inception of the greater Visionquest family.

Seth’s own releases span a variety of labels including some of the most distinctive and interesting in the last decade (Omar S’s FXHE, Circus Company, Spectral Sounds) and it’s little coincidence he’s also been involved in some of the most significant success stories of more recent times, with releases on Crosstown Rebels and Wolf + Lamb and an early remix and recognition of Nicolas Jaar. Classic collaborations with Deetron, Tiefschwarz, Art Department and Matthew Dear have shown adroit versatility and his own productions, from the sultry ‘Love Never Sleeps’ to the Maya Angelou sampling ‘Aphrika’ explain his meteoric rise.

With Visionquest he’s branched out and incorporated pop elements in the form of releases from Footprintz and introduced the likes of Benoit & Sergio and Tale of Us to a larger audience. And, as the recent takeover of DC-10 attests, the Visionquest gang also know how to put on a phenomenal and unique live experience; expect more of the same carnival-esque charm here as an ever-present favourite in the end of year RA polls and a constant commitment to touring affirm that Seth will undoubtedly bring a healthy dose of his distinctive character, an impeccable selection and a sense of unbridled, hedonistic fun to his mammoth 8 hour set.
