Sheffield’s Leading Dance Promoters Club Together in Celebration of the Olympics at Sheftival

th in Sheffield, a brand new festival of music and sport touches down to coincide with local lass, Jess Ennis, competing for a medal in the Olympics, and with it comes the newly formed ‘Monkey Bump Dance Tent’ – a mash-up of dubstep, techno, drum ‘n’ bass and reggae in a unique festival setting like never before.

The Monkey Bump Dance Tent is a brand new concept at summer festival ‘Sheftival’, showcasing the best and most exciting Sheffield dance promoters, alongside some leading out of town headliners to compliment.

The nature of Sheftival – a mixture of sport and music – leads to some very unique festival opportunities. Where else can you take a break from raving to go and spa with a professional boxer or take an impromptu Zumba class? Of course this is all in celebration of the London Olympics 2012. If you’d rather, you can board The Busker’s Barge floating stage, graze the gourmet food stalls, be inspired by the cycled powered DJ stage at the jetty, water yourself at one of twelve bars, or behave like a kid on the giant fairground.

Highlights at the Monkey Bump dance tent include dubstep forefather and repeated winner of *Dubstep Forum Best DJ, Youngsta* of *Rinse FM* and *Fwd*(pictured above left). On Saturday he’ll be joined by local record label *R8 Records* featuring *DJ Autograff*, the psychedelic crew *Planet Zogg*, and Sheffield free party specialists *Sheffield Techno Institute* (STI). Also appearing on Saturday are local reggae crews, *Riddimtion* and *Sequoia Sound System*, alongside *Jack Opus* and rising star *Checan* from *Bunga Bunga*!

The headliner for Sunday is the internationally acclaimed, experimental techno producer, *Oliver Ho* (pictured below) who comes to Sheftival courtesy of local house night, *Collect*. Also on Sunday, *Dub Café*artists *Arie* and *Rubiconman* take to the decks – the productions of the aforementioned deep dubstep promoter, Arie, have led him to remix for *Alicia Keys* – ooh er (pictured above right).

Adding to the line-up is* Off Me Nut Records* who over the past few years have gained a massive following with their rave inspired madness which has taken them round the world, leading to repeat performances at *Glade Festival*, *Bangface*, *Boomtown* and *Glastonbury*. They have now moved into jungle dnb with their crew, *Phatworld*, who will take over Monkey Bump as the sun sets on Sunday.

The dance tent is brought to you by promoters and artists who have mountains of experience in creating the perfect party atmosphere. Money Bump programmer and R8 Records head honcho, Alex Deadman said:

Sheffield has a fantastic culture of collaboration and co-operation. We also have a dynamic and diverse underground music scene with many of our artists gaining followings around the globe. Sheftival is providing a unique opportunity for us to get together to create a multi-genre dance tent of epic proportions!”

Stretching a vast site of 25 acres, Sheftival boasts eight stages, over 1,000 performers, 25 sports, 80 bands, three markets, gourmet food stalls, a giant bungee, free ice-skating, a 48m² screen in Don Valley Stadium for free Olympics viewing and a lot more. This is the Olympic Games done festival style.
